Google isn’t censoring anyone here. They told The Federalist & Zerohedge that they would no longer place advertisements on those sites, because the comments sections allowed racist slurs & violent threats. The Federalist decided to remove their entire comments section. Zerohedge parted ways with Adsense. Both sites still show up in relevant Google searches.
Adsense isn’t the only company that pays websites to place ads, but I doubt there are many companies that want their brand on a page with people literally using the n-word & calling for protestors to be shot.
If Trump appeared in Nazi uniform or a KKK bedsheet and said we should kill news reporters . . . . it’s okay to report on FOX NEWS ! That’s the one turkey Trump was going to pardon last year. Snitches get stitches when stuffed with dressing before given a Roast in their honor.
what’s the back story on this ? The problem is not private companies censor… it is that they lie about being impartial and pretend to be not driven by political agendas.
I am neither in support of this comic, nor a detractor. Interesting points on both sides. Do news organizations owe a duty of neutrality and factual reporting, or are they commercial enterprises answering to their customers? Doesn’t Fox and Breitbart do the same thing? Who is they decider of fact? What is unbiased reporting? Lots of food for thoughtful reflection.
Sites like Twitter, Facebook and the like are going to lose their status as protected from lawsuits, as they are now censoring points that they don’t like, instead of being a neutral platform. Once you cross over from being neutral, you set yourself up as a “publisher”, and then, look out. If someone posts something that is patently false, they can go after you. Good luck, a holes.
Censorship is something governments do. Period. A periodical makes decisions every day about what to report and how to report it.
And even then–you can get in big trouble if you use “dirty words” in public and someone decides that a small child’s brain-circuitry has been permanently damaged by hearing it.

Sounds like a private business entity exercising its freedom to decide how to serve its customers best.

Care to guess how Ramirez would depict Fox News? Better yet, how does Ramirez view Rush Limbaugh and Alex Jones?

Sounds like Trump’s strategy for his entire life. Censoring and undermining entities who tell the truth about him.
