Obedience Training is not “Sending the dog to school.” It is “Training the human.” In this case, just walking into the room would result in the dog getting off the couch. The dog knows the rules and The human knows the dog will obey him. However, the human didn’t get trained, and expects the dog won’t obey him. The dog is quite happy to do so.
You don’t get a dog unless you are prepared for these little “inconveniences.” Same as getting a cat = scratched up furniture, or a parrot = chewed up earbuds and power cords. :D
