It appeals to his base more than ever. just the thought of police cracking heads excites them. It doesn’t matter if the are black, brown, or “liberal” heads – just lock ‘em up. Law and Order. Break the Law you go to jail ( or die – doesn’t matter). Unless of course you’re white, conservative, well connected, went to the right school, a good ole boy, . . .
It’s not as simply black and white (see what I did there) as portrayed by Trump, since a great many of the protesters supporting the blacks are themselves “white”.
