Ssssshhhh—don’t tell anyone, but there’s “gloves vs no gloves” disagreements amongst the archivists and curators….

And just think how often you hold an original Amanda the Great strip……and with no gloves.

That must have been SOME moment! Maybe someday your work will be in someone else’s gloved hands. You never know!

My relationship with Crumb was sealed when he began a strip with an allusion to “Duck’s Yas Yas” by Oliver Cobb. I had that recording on an LP compilation and realized we had something important in common.

Wow,That’s how I felt when I received some original strips from “In Security”. it’s like holding a piece of history. I’m sure some of your fans would feel the same about your work.

Whaddaya mean calling one of my favorite cartoonists/artists ‘no account’? Amanda El-Dweek is talented, witty, kind, and an inspiration to all!

No, I’m not kidding, you bring smiles and happiness to people all over the place all the time, and one day YOUR work will be in that museum.

And, by the way, I’m so jealous, because, and this in no way takes away from your own brilliance, but – ‘Calvin & Hobbes’ original in your very own hands? SQUEEEEEEEEE!!

If you wonder why I’m determined to make sure you believe in yourself – my late brother could draw. He had a quirky style, you could tell he grew up in the ‘60s and ’70s, and his comics were – let’s go with ‘interesting’. The older he got, the less he believed in the worth of his work, and the less he drew. Finally, he just stopped. So now, I make sure that when I encounter someone whose art I admire but who seems unsure, I do everything I can to make them realize how important they are.

John Robert Creel could have been a cartoonist of renown. He ended up throwing out pretty much everything he made.

Sorry, I’m remembering him today, and I needed someone to know this.

If you want to be a better cartoonist, you could always draw another cartoon. Cathy Guisewite has a new cartoon that was put on the main page. You could contact Bill Waterson, who wrote Calvin and Hobbes and Lucas Turnbloom who wrote Imagine This and and ask them if they wouldn’t mind if you drew a cartoon with Calvin and Hobbes and Clovis from Imagine This. You could call it Clovis-Rex. Just two cartoons a week would work. I wrote a lot about it on Imagine This on April 14, 2014. It’s all in public domain so I wouldn’t want anything if you used it. Gocomics would print it. Calvin and Susie’s daughter, Bacon, is also in the story. I forget who it was who drew her in another strip a long time ago. If you want to think about doing another comic, it would be a good one to do.

The one that had Bacon in it was called Hobbes and Bacon. It was done by Tom and Dan Heyerman. it only ran four strips. I don’t know if they can be reached, but I don’t think they would mind one bit if you used Bacon in a Clovis-Rex comic.

A very long time ago I was walking out of the Doggie Diner on Sloat Boulevard near 45th in San Francisco and walking in was Bill Griffith. (Zippy the Pinhead)

This turned out to be really intelligent. “The Enchanted Highway” in North Dakota sounded like an idea from somebody on drugs, but it’s beautiful that it’s there.
