awww… how sweet

This is a good strip, but it becomes extra funny when you remember that a mother wrote it. :) I’m not blaming Lynn Johnston, just to be clear—heck, if I were a dad I’d DEFINITELY make comic strips where a boy admits that his dad was right all along!

No sense piling on but here on the farm we have lots of mundane, daily chores and the high points of silly tings like a dress the hog contest are a big deal. As to teenage letters, the 5 comments above are right on. Howthe Duck is the one out of touch…and a might high and mighty.

Here Michael had been writing to Martha, then years later, he becomes a full-fledged writer.

She has suddenly gotten much less gawky looking.

Michael is getting a feel for being “isolated together” on the farm. Keeping busy can be entertaining.

The “foot food joints” had me going for a while until I figured it out….

What will they do to show Michael a good time next? Take him to the gun range? Or maybe go out to the bayou to test explosives.

I wonder how many children, and even young adults, can read the cursive!

“Oh, and by the way Martha, my cousin Laura and I have hooked up. But don’t worry, it’s only for the rest of the Summer. We’re Canadians, so we’re all on the same page here!”

I didn’t realize mine were right til I had kids of my own! :o]

I wish my handwriting was that legible.

I worked on a farm. It taught many very good things, one of which was I didn’t want to be a farmer.
