Narrowminded’s narrow vision is unable to take in long sentences or he would not have left off the key phrases in his second sentence, which ought to read:

Progressive Conventional Wisdom has made placing the pursuit of immediate profit above all ethical, moral, or long-term considerations a sin against man.

And the next sentence should read:

Yet many of us do it.

Perhaps that is all too nuanced for his narrow mind to take in, so how about this:

A certain old book tells us that greed is the root of all evil.

(Often misquoted as money is the root of all evil, the correct quotation is the love of money is the root of all evil.)

harleyquinn … “Of course it is the libs who want to rob Peter (higher taxes on the evil rich) to pay Paul (the poor pitiful poor)”

I’m not sure what country you are in HARLEY but that doesn’t happen in the US. When the Warren Buffet’s of the US pay less taxes (as a percentage of their income) than his secretary (http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2007/1126/042b.html) than something is wrong with our system. The “poor” are subsidizing the “rich”, it is NOT the other way around. So I guess you are fine with robbing Paul (poor) to pay Peter (rich - Warren Buffet and greedy corporations - GM, Wall Street Banks, …)

Why are you worried about nuclear power plants? According to Ann Coulter, who is a well known expert on the subject, “”With the terrible earthquake and resulting tsunami that have devastated Japan, the only good news is that anyone exposed to excess radiation from the nuclear power plants is now probably much less likely to get cancer.” (http://www.anncoulter.com/)

Anybody else willing to build their new house next to Ann’s home that will be placed next to the Fukushima power plant? … Anybody??? … [crickets]

Proffit is not a sin, but the end doesn’t justify the means (insane risks, disasters, speculation).

Anti-liberalism is called being a reactionary. Look it up. It’s a way to react with a knee jerk and avoid thinking about the issues.

For nuclear power, the whole point is to boil water, which makes steam, which turns giant turbines, which makes electricity, much of which is lost in the distribution system before it gets to end users, many of whom are wasteful. For this purpose the plants create spent fuel that, in the case of some substances, will be toxic for 250,000 years. No country has a safe place to put it, which is why it’s stored at the plants. Decentralized or distributed generation would be cheaper and generate power with superior efficiency but wouldn’t produce giant profits for giant corporations.

    Greed got us here.

Making a profit is great as long as you are not causing harm to people and the planet.

It is amazing how a Goofy Little Jerk like harley can elicit such heartfelt reactions from thinking, feeling and caring people.

He posts all over the place and manages to infuriate us again and again. He is probably the stupidest most ignorant sack of silly slime that ever posted on gocomics. We all wish he would just shut up and take his monstrous ideas and abysmal spelling somewhere else.

Well he’s too stupid to shut up and he’ll continue to post his insanity no matter how many times we call him on his creepoid lies. Unfortunately I’m not up to pledging myself to ignoring him from now on.

How is it that a ninny like him can force folks like us to respond every time he blats his brainless fatuous flatulence?

Isn’t it interesting that gambling in Las Vegas, and elsewhere, where the house always wins, is far more regulated than any other corporation, bank, or Wall Street, thanks to Reagan and his followers? Al Capp pointed out a half century ago the danger of turning the country over to General Bullmoose with no restraints, as did Eisenhower, but when Bullmoose got control of the media-(as warned) the message became “his”.

Golden parachutes have become a shroud for everyone else in the economy.

^Thanks, Anthony. I am getting tired of people not being able to distinguish “percentage of total revenue collected” from “percentage of revenue collected from individuals.” Rather different there!

    15% of 90 is less than 25% of 10.

    But 25% of 1 > 15% of 1.

Fact. 15% of Warren Buffet’s income is less, as a PERCENTAGE OF INCOME, than 25% of Warren Buffet’s secretary’s INCOME.

But 15% of several billion is SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER than 25% of $60,000.

It is easier to LIVE ON 85% of several billion than it is to live on 75% of $60,000.

I don’t know why you keep trying to dance around it. It’s been proven on Politifact and elsewhere. As a PERCENTAGE OF INCOME the top 2% pay less than the Middle class. Fact. Absolute fact.

And if we’re going to drum up the people who don’t pay income taxes, GUESS WHAT, neither does General Electric and a number of multi-billion dollar companies. You can say they pay income taxes elsewhere, but we’re speaking in the context of the United States.

    These are facts.

“and Jade the bottom 50% DO NOT PAY ANY INCOME TAX!”

Neither do multi-billion dollar corporations like General Electric.
