I went to church and they announced council elections after the potluck. I wasn’t running for anything, didn’t have a horse in the race, and didn’t have a potluck contribution, so I went home. Next week I was being congratulated for being elected Facilities Chairman.
I got elected for some office or other at my square dancing club (long ago). The joke was on them, I missed the meeting because I was at an out of town job interview.
I was on vacation during a planning meeting for my Boy Scout Jamboree troop. I was elected Scribe based on a report from two guys who had been in my Philmont group of just my notes as Scribe for that group (I gave the sole copy of my final report to our adult leader, who neglected to copy and send it to the rest of the group).
