Obviously the Fifth would offer the plans to the highest bidder. If he did offer them to the government, Diet Smith might have to do some explaining to a Senate committee. He might have to do even more explaining if the plans end up in unfriendly hands.
Was it established that Thor’s Hammer had reached a stage where it could work under field conditions? Maybe Ed is scamming the Fifth with incomplete plans.
Can you imagine what would go on in Locher’s head if he heard the term “flash drive”? Locher is still awestricken from his discovery of dot-matrix printers and card punch readers with reel-to-reel computing technology..
The waiter does resemble Mumbles. If I recall Mumbles is not only still around, he attempted in one post Gould storyline to pass himself off as a clone of himself.
Ironically, I just re-read tha storyline about a week ago. You’re right he’s still around. Hopefully he’ll be out on “good behavior” soon.
I love the timeless feel of the new DT. The 1930’s with flashdrives or is it the 2000’s with fedora’s….

Talk about serendipity. Just watched old 6th season X-Files episode entitled “Triangle” (it’s the Bermuda Triangle one w/ all the long takes). A scientist w/ the moniker “Thor’s Hammer” is a major plotpoint.

Has no one noticed what the meeting place is between The Fifth and his contact? Club Gray? Could this be an offhand reference to Harold Gray as a tribute to Little Orphan Annie? Just wondering, as it does seem strange to me. If so, way to go, Mike!

Heaven forbid some neophyte think that Staton and Curtis were responsible for the Locher Mess Monster’s carnage of years past.

I doubt he’d know what that type is let alone what a Flash Drive is.
And as a “Person-of-Interest” keeps asking

Thanks for the comments about mixing 40’s hats with current times. Tracy and crew always have looked a certain way to Joe and I, and changing that would be like giving Popeye slender arms.
We’re also glad readers like our new “fast paced” Tracy style. To us, it’s actually old fashioned, like a movie serial. In them things happened fast. Like in ATOM MAN VS SUPERMAN Clark and Lois are looking at a clipping and it mentions some crook used to work as a human fly and immediately Jimmy runs up telling about a human fly downtown. It worked in the 40;s and it can work just as well now.
Mike, tell Joe and the rest of your team that your work could not possibly be better. I found Tracy in the mid Seventies, when I started reading all the comics for myself. I enjoyed it through the mid 80s when I stopped reading every day. I thought I was glad to pick it up here a few years ago, but I really didn’t remember what I was missing. Thanks for restoring Dick Tracy to its full glory. I’m certain that you’ll have it lasting another 80 years or more!
Maxine, When I saw the art on the Waiter today, I didn’t think Mumbles, but it crossed my mind that the basics there had the potential to be converted into a new Rogue we could all admire.
That’s going to be the CHALLENGE for all new creators of Dick Tracy … making them Rogues the way Chester did !

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7 1994, has MICKEY SPILLANE’S MIKE DANGER with art by Joe. ” Attached is scan of “Mickey Spillane’s MIKE DANGER” from Sunday, Nov 27, 1994, Asbury Park NJ, SUNDAY HOME NEWS. I penciled the strip for two or three months, after Keith Giffen. I think this was the only paper it ever ran in. TeknoComics packaged it.”
Once again, love the strip’s pace, art and the contrasts/anachronisms between 50’s The Fifth in Nothing’s club, with a techie hacker who bears a certain resemblance to someone I, uh, know.
Most excited I’ve been for Dick Tracy since ‘78. Granted, that only lasted two years, but this medium and the audience participation has synergistic potential.

On Tuesday, a lot of people were commenting on the strip being in color.
Now, I have Dick Tracy emailed to me by GoComics.
When I open the email, the strip is in black and white.
When I click on “Add Comment” it is in color.
When I first found out about GoComics, there was a subscription fee, but they would email you one comic for free everyday.

I don’t think the waiter is that close to the table, nor do I think it’s Mumbles.
I love the plot and the way the story is developing.
The appearances of classic characters in minor roles or just refered to by name (Nothing Yonson!) just sweetens the deal.
I haven’t enjoyed Dick Tracy this much in decades!
