That’s cause they ought to be asleep. I once had the misfortune to have my attic crawlspace taken over by nesting birds whose babies hadn’t yet learned that “night means sleepy time”. One of them would wake up and start making a racket, and that’d wake up the rest of them and they’d all start chiming in.
