I realize that nothing about this scheme is in any way whatsoever a good idea, but isn’t it an especially bad idea for all three of them to be in the same place? If they spread out to encircle Cecile then one of them would at least have a better chance of stopping the beast before it grabs her and gets away.
Nettle soup is definitely a desperation food. I suspect a lot of things are.
Olives – “Hey, these taste terrible. Let’s soak them in salt water for a few weeks and see it they improve.”
Rhubarb- "The leaves are toxic, the roots are not much better. Why don’t we chop up the stems, cook them up with lots of sugar, and see if it either kills us or makes a tasty dessert! "
Escargot – “The snails ate our entire crop. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to eat them.”

Whatever it is, it looks sizeable. Wonder how they expect to capture it? These dummies don’t have anything to defend themselves.

I’m assuming they’ve dressed up a teddy bear as bait? It would explain why “Cecile” isn’t trying to crawl away.
