In India, we prefer to wash. Historically, we used terracotta mugs and buckets – upgraded to plastic as the years went on. The latest is compact handheld shower jets running off a tap. (Some guy in Maryland just rigged one up on his own cistern – though they should ideally use separate taps.)

So this kind of shortage doesn’t concern us as much as it does you. Not yet, anyway.

In Bermuda, we’re on Day Three of a Fourteen-day Lock-down. We can’t leave our homes unless going for groceries, medicine and gas. In fact, you can’t grocery shop without your ID because if your surname starts with A – K, you can shop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. If it’s L – Z, you have Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Sundays are only for seniors.

My aunts did a lot of shopping last week, so it’s so far, so good.

There was a story about why home toilet paper is in short supply. It seems the paper made for businesses, eateries, schools, etc. are all made by a totally different group than the soft white “home” paper. All home paper is being used at twice or three times its’ usual speed while “business” paper is piling up unused. And, they have totally different machines, suppliers, etc., so there isn’t any way to make “home” paper on their system!
