The Japanese went through a couple of decades of economic stagnation.

Steven Weinberg, Nobal laureate, is a prof at Texas. He’s said to have chosen it among many others because it was the only place where they offered him a higher salary than to the footbal coach.

In 9 Chickweed Lane there was a plot line whereby Juliette, teaching medicine, got a rich parent complaining that she gave a bad grade. She told him that she would give an A to his son so that he could become a surgeon only if the dad agreed to be the first person to be operated by his son.Maybe the lawyer should have asked the jury if they were willing to put their savings in the hands of someone who couldn’t do maths.

Most of the civilized world is way ahead of us technically in many ways. Tourists come here and can’t understand why we are so behind. No one wants to invest in new tech because of the costs cutting into the bottom line, so we fall further behind.

It wasn’t the Japanese or Chinese that took production of so very many things overseas and bought so many loans and so much property. It was the US CEO’s and stockholders that sold it to them. And us down the river. What the hell, it was only a hell of a lot of jobs and a very large chunk of our security.

I suppose you will just have to give everyone A’s. Let them graduate instead of ‘leaving them behind’ and let the market sort them out. Ignorant gets corrected fast. Stupid is forever. Walden is not the filter.

But remember, Jules, Walden ALREADY has a policy of not giving grades based on merit. You just didn’t know about it.

Actually Jules, it’s the Chinese who are our Masters now. We foolishly gave them that power by buying everything from them because they could produce it cheaper.
