I don’t want my art to be misunderstood. Why try to convey my message only for it to be misinterpreted?

Art is NOT linear communication. So “understand” isn’t one of the primary motivations. Seems to me.

Both great art and terrible art are often misunderstood in their own time, so being misunderstood isn’t much of an indicator.

Ever wonder why so few bands keep putting out great new music? Because poor struggling musicians write wonderful songs, while rich rock gods do not.

Art is supposed to communicate something. If nobody can figure out what it’s expressing, it’s not good art!

Great art is understood and says important things sometimes.

If you try to make a living doing art. All you will worry about is if it’s good enough to get money for rent.
