Did you know that the pledge actually started as an ad campaign to sell more flags? And if that isn’t the most American thing ever, I don’t know what is. I highly recommend the podcast “The Supreme Court v Church/State Separation” – their first deep-dive is on the pledge and it is excellent: https://churchstateseparationpodcast.com/
Millie has a point there. “I pledge impertinence to the flag-waving of the unindicted co-conspirators of America, and to the Republicans for which I can’t stand, one abomination, underhanded fraud, indefensible, with liberty and justice forget it.”

Separation of church and state. America is not a theocracy.

I’ve been an atheist since I was about ten. Whenever the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, I always left out the words “under god”.

Change it to something we can all agree on. “One nation, under Canada.” Look at any map, it’s right there!

My parents always told me I didn’t have to recite the pledge of allegiance if I didn’t want to.
They were never big fans of the whole “Red scare” thing.

The Tyrant would have demanded it say “Under ME!”
