I have never once seen anybody run to the window when a car alarm goes off. Half the time, the car’s owner just pulls out their key fob and turns it off, without even looking.

Do car alarms ever actually prevent a car from being stolen? My cars have a much more practical antitheft device, a manual transmission.

I bought a Subaru last year with an alarm, first car I’ve ever had with one
Our mechanic friend says it can’t be disabled without disconnecting the horn

Alarms very useful for finding your car in a big lot, and to do a Use the Force trick on the kids.
