Lincoln wouldn’t be to surprised I believe. An “unbiased” press is relatively recent. I just finished a biography of George Washington and the press in those days made CNN and FOX look like a high school weekly.
“You take Sally, I’ll take Sue….There ain’t no difference between the two.” I think Jackson Browne had it right. The lies are piled so high on both sides we could save a lot of time, effort, and money if we just flip a coin every four years…..and we still have the same result.
The actual journalistic world — around the world, mind you — is pretty united. There is one network that is not an actual news association, (though it has “News” in its name), which knowingly spreads lies. That particular network has been fact checked over and over and found to be a partisan mouthpiece. But the REAL journalists of the world are pretty together. Not because they are partisan but because the truth is verifiable, and they do the research. I read/watch/listen to news outlets from around the world, and with the exception of Fox, Itar-Tass, and Israel Hayom, they see this administration for the crisis it is.
Right. All those liberal “climate-deniers”, all those conservative believers that “deficits are unmitigated evil”.
A few years ago the Macedonian teenagers who were salting the social media with made-up scandal and slander discovered that such rubbish when “conservative” opinions were the subject never gained any traction, whereas lies about liberal opinions, no matter how grotesque and crude, reliably went viral and were eagerly shared by like-“minded” users.
