If you’ve ever tried to play vinyl in a moving vehicle, you understand. REALLY bad for the disc … and BTW, yes, it is possible. Just unlikely and undesirable.

You’re a Plugger if your car is 40 years old, yet no one would consider it a classic car, and your friend is too dumb to recognize the “White Album.”

Was it even possible to record on eight track tapes? Of course cassettes were used to record albums, still have some of mine, but no longer have a cassette player to play the m on.

Pluggers might not use the johnny-come-lately term “vinyl” instead of “record” or “album” or even “LP”.

The poor sound quality of the 8-track was lost on the fact you had some thing else to listen to beyond the radio in your vehicle, especially when traveling. Same with the cassettes.

For me, all music sounds better on vinyl, especially the White Album (well, maybe not side four…)

Was that a thing? I remember 8 tracks, and I never saw recording decks. I just remember jamming out to a song and having it fade down, then CLICK then fade back up…

At one time audiophiles used to record music on VHS tapes…

uh, almost anything sounds better than 8 track tape. I think my LP collection sounds better (discounting nicks, scratches, etc.…) but a psychologist friend said it’s a prejudice because I remember hearing songs that way originally. ??

Wow, glad I missed the boat on home recording 8-tracks. And as someone who owns two copies of the White Album, one actually printed on white vinyl, it’s surprising to hear older commentators confess that although they have “heard of the Beatles”, they never heard of the White Album. Very interesting…as Arte used to say.

Recording your own means you can leave “Revolution No. 9” off.

I remember a friend coming to our apartment with the White Album which she had just bought. We had just dropped an illicit psychoactive substance and she put the album on our stereo. Oddly enough, I don’t remember hearing very much of the album.
