Lets be clear. #3† ordered an assassination, and the target was indeed killed. That is no “slap”. Then Iran responded without actually killing anybody (which the Prez too credit for). That isn’t a mere slap either, but less deadly than that first “slap”. This is absolutely asymmetric warfare and I predict it’s going to bite us in the ass. Which #3 will claim is a big win.

There’s a lot of that going on across the military, not just at the Pentagon.

It used to be that the military was a reliable voting block for the Republicans. Trump certainly has undone a lot of that, given what I’ve heard from the troops around here.

‘Ja think maybe the Pentagon people have learned NOT to give Trump any options that are ’so ridiculous that no one would opt for them’?

The thing is the Iranians missed, some say on purpose their response to their #2 man + 5 others are assassinated in a 3rd country. And some Reich Wingers see this as a solid win for Trump.

Yeah the military advisors were fools thinking they can put a “worst case” option in front of him and think he wouldn’t seriously consider it. That’s why Mattis and Kelly played huge roles in dumbing down the options for Trump to see. I bet “nuke N Korea or assassinate Kim Jong Un” was a “worst case” option that grown ups in the room knew to remove from the list before Trump saw it.

Pretending that the dictators-in-charge will LEAVE it at that (even though they love to use live ammo against their protestors) is, how do I put this…….childish? Insane? Lest I be accused of “whataboutism”, let me point out this: was Eisenhower kinda like in some ways almost kind of popular? Yeah. They’re gonna leave it at that. (bonus points for those noticing that I did NOT equate a career war criminal with a WW II hero, or did I equate crazed mobs worshipping a career war criminal with civilized people. Bonus point all around!)

Most of the members of the military have to be smarter than Commander Bone Spurs. If not, we might as well put the WELCOME mat for Putin. It’s a SAD period in American History.
