I’ll rattle a warning first. I love to see their bug-eyed look of enstartlement before I bite them.

Does she have to bite them, or do they just freeze at the sight of a snake in a bikini?

Yikes! 3 sunbathing snakes! Maybe they are a little lethargic from the sun and can’t chase anyone for a while.

Awww, just leave the snakes alone and they’ll leave you alone.

When Nag the basking cobra hears the careless step of Man/ he will often slither sideways, and avoid him he can. /But his mate makes no such motion/ as she camps beside trail, for the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Fun fact, rattlers have a hemotoxic venom (destroys both flesh and blood cells), except for our beauties up there who must be Mojave rattlesnakes which also pack a potent paralitic agent into theirs.
