I hated that interview question, most intensely in 1977 when I was searching for my first job, and at this oil company I would be doing 200+ invoices a day, etc etc. Okay I thought, and then it came. “What do you see yourself doing in five years?” Come on lady, I’m in my early twenties out for my first real job with no experience. And my stupid ass answer was, ‘Still working’. I now know why they want that answer from the computer whizzes and engineers and such, but jeez louise lady, it was a minimum wage invoicing gig about 10 years before computers!!Oh, I didn’t get the job.
Where do you see yourself in five years. I started in the union assembling sunlamps, forty three years later I retired in management as a vacuum systems and ultra violet lamp engineer.
