A child’s mind is a vulnerable, beautiful, precious thing. Don’t destroy it by teaching fairytales as FACTS. Teach them how to think, not what to think. Don’t brainwash children with religion/superstition.
When my children were very young, my mother would try to persuade me that it was important to raise them with religion, and she cited an article which she said made a very good argument for that position, and dated back to when she and my father were first married. She finally showed me the article (when my children were fully grown and the issue was moot), and I found that I agreed with it fully — because what it actually argued was that people shouldn’t deny their heritage, especially when they’re in the minority. So being Jewish, I shouldn’t deny that for myself or my children (and I never have).
