PETA wants us to use robotic groundhogs. Sounds too complicated. After they stopped a local town from gently lowering a possum in a padded cage for the New Year “ball dropping,” the townfolk substituted a stuffed toy. Which they used to beat the local PETA chapter. Sadly, the beating I just made up. I’m all for animals being safe, but robots and animal cruelty when it isn’t goes too far.

The ground hog’s beard is really more of just a light stubble, than an actual shadow. Try coming back at 5 o’clock.

There are always tons of cameras and bright lights, so I always see my shadow.

The ground hog is superfluous; if it’s sunny, there will be shadows, if it’s not, there won’t be.
