Wishful thinking from a dying cult of Trumpers. (Don’t tell the Republicans, but the Evangicial cult-mag “Christianity Today” just published they are behind Trump being removed from office too).
The 25th amendment looks better and better, and I cannot but suppose that the one or two GOP leaders who can still think at all must be thinking about how to make it happen.
I think an apt comparison is to the 1950s movie “Forbidden Planet,” and its “monsters from The Id.” Doesn’t the outline of the creature in the ring of blaster fire resemble Trump? Id monster, misuse of unlimited power, self-destruction of Morbius and the planet (party) — it clicks.
Varvel, are you one of those who had deified Trump? Do you believe he is God-chosen? Do you believe he’s better than Lincoln? Why? What has he done for this country? Well, he has increased the national debt beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. And he did lock kids up in unsafe cages, where several have died. Is that making America great? Has he produced that wonderful health plan he promised? Has he built that silly wall and made Mexico pay for it? Has he saved all those coal jobs? Has he kept manufacturing from moving overseas or brought new manufacturing back? Has he wiped out ISIS like he promised? What? ISIS is resurgent because of him? Who knew? What else has he done … well, he’s alienated all of our allies and helped Kim Jong Un go nuclear faster than expected. He’s got Iran going nuclear, too. THAT makes us safer! Anything else? I’m still waiting for him to produce those tax returns — which he PROMISED to produce once he was elected. But not to worry, he’s made MILLIONS off of the government since becoming president — and gotten in more golfing than any president before. Is that your Chosen One?
Gary, let me give you a more appropriate Star Wars quote regarding the current administration: “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."
Does the idiot Varvel actually compare the Marmalade Moron to Obi Wan??? How can this poor excuse for a human be thought of as “good”, in any sense of the word!
Let’s review: we have a president who bullies 16 year old girls because they bravely (and effectively) stand against him. He claims Pelosi is lying when she said she prays for him because he think “praying for him” means supporting him. He released a transcript that led to his impeachment because he didn’t think it was bad for him to pressure Ukraine to investigate Biden’s family. Remind me again how you can cast him in a role of a wise warrior.
If anyone genuinely believes that Trump is a “heroic” character, they need their brain checked. The only way I can process a sane person looking up to Trump is if they see him as an “antihero” that the world needs. I don’t agree with them… but that’s the only way to support him without being completely delusional.
“But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.
The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused.
Trump’s evangelical supporters have pointed to his Supreme Court nominees, his defense of religious liberty, and his stewardship of the economy, among other things, as achievements that justify their support of the president. We believe the impeachment hearings have made it absolutely clear, in a way the Mueller investigation did not, that President Trump has abused his authority for personal gain and betrayed his constitutional oath. The impeachment hearings have illuminated the president’s moral deficiencies for all to see. This damages the institution of the presidency, damages the reputation of our country, and damages both the spirit and the future of our people. None of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character."
So we’ve gone from Trump being Thanos to him being Obi-wan Kenobi. In both instances, the ending was not good for either of them. Both failed to live up to expectations. Does this mean Jr., Ivanka, and Eric are supposed to be Han, Leia, and Luke? Ugh. Screw you, Varvel. You just ruined Star Wars opening weekend of Episode IX for everyone with this BS.
Wow I knew we had broken Toys here I did not realize they were broken Star Wars Toys. This Group reminds me of Big Bang Theory level of Geekiness. Live Long and Prosper
I guess I’ll have to give Varvel credit for at least knowing who the good guys and bad guys were in a famous movie. A stark contrast to Ramirez, who just couldn’t stop drawing that dastardly Obama as Santa, Jesus, George Bailey, etc.
And since I’m feeling generous today, I’ll give him extra credit for drawing Trump’s lightsaber as limp and useless.
This scenario can’t be shoehorned into a star wars analogy. From episode 4 anyways. Closest character Trump matches is Jabba the Hutt from episode 6. And this isn’t a weight comparison. I am referring to Jabba being an uncaring selfish corrupt mob/gang boss surrounded by sycophantic toadies…and drawing obscene pleasure from torturing enemies.
Probably the only Star Wars movie he’s seen. He think’s he’s making some kind of modern social commentary. Brand new Star Wars movie out, and he makes a 40 year old reference
Quite humerous how Varvel has depicted Pelosi as being fearful of Trump. She is actually so stoic that she makes the late Saint Joan of Arc look fearful.. Pelosi is truly a heroine of our times. One day….when the US regains its senses…they will be lamenting the sordid tales of this dark era in history books and revising their entire political processes to ensure this never happens again.
