I’ve never actually seen a house cat eat a mouse. Kill, certainly, many times, but eat it like he/she was a feral cat without a steady source of food? No.
We had a big Siamese tom cat when I was growing up who was allowed to roam outdoors. He took to hunting and eating squirrels in the yard. We knew he ate them, only because we would find nothing but the tails and a few remaining tufts of squirrel fur lying around. That guy was also the smartest cat I ever knew. He insisted on being an outdoor cat, and when we would bring him in, he learned how to jump up on a big speaker that was by the door and unlatch the storm door, letting himself out. If you brought him back in, he’d just let himself out again, unless you closed the main door, which we didn’t like to do during spring and summer.
All the other kittens are up to no good, I bet. Unlike the Jonas Brothers fame, they are likely practicing for Bowling For Dollars using the baby mice as balls.
My grey tabby would catch and eat mice in our house. I watched her several times as a young teen. Gruesome. But she was SO proud of herself for the kill and she was just bein’ a cat…
