Ahh, I know the feeling. That was Houston with Bud Adam’s Oilers. It was always, “Wait until next year.” When he threatened to take the team out of Houston unless they built him a new stadium, the concensus in Houston was, “Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.” Or maybe some of them hoped it would hit him.

That’s also the Bears under the wretched McCaskey family. All they care about is the money they make. Mike Ditka said about their grandfather, George Halas, that he threw nickels around like they were manhole covers. I met a retired Bear player from the 40s & he told me they were disgustingly cheaper than the old man. He at least would help out any player who fell on hard times, the grandchildren, never!

The Smashers will probably do what the Jets and Giants will do come tomorrow: fire the coach, trade the crybaby quarterbacks and other crybaby players, hope for a high pick in the draft but then wind up with a garbage pick and a garbage player as a result, wind up getting another moron coach and more crybaby players, setting up another cellar-dweller season. Lather, rinse, repeat. :-P

Managing expectations is truly the way to enjoy sports. If the definition of success is a championship every year, you are almost certainly going to be dissapointed (unless of course you are a Patriots fan ;-)

Detroit Lions. 1 playoff win since 1957. The Broncos and Cowboys have been to multiple Super bowls and won. Time for the Ford family of crummy football to sell.

I was just watching Miami & New England and it dawned on me why Fitzpatrick looks so familiar. Has anyone else noticed that he looks like actor John Rys-Davis as Gimli the dwarf in the movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring?

They must be talking about the Miami Dolphins. They’re talking about drafting a top quarterback next year. Until they address their offensive line woes. You can have Dan Marino in his prime paired up with Paul Warfield* and Mark Clayton in their prime and they would still have a difficult time with Marino running for his life. *Had Warfield played in the mid-eighties no telling what his stats would have been. Waefield played at a time when the pass wasn’t emphasized and as long as the ball wasn’t in the air you could knock the heck out of the receiver.
