I think Randy doesn’t know A Christmas Carol very well. Scrooge becomes Mr. Nice Guy near the end of that story. Something he won’t enjoy being.

He might have a problem convincingly acting the ending when Scrooge converts. Heck, he might even act like he wants to beat up the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come instead of being afraid of it. The role of Ebenezer Scrooge requires an enormous range for an actor, which I guess is why so many great actors covet the role and want their shot at it. Patrick Stewart comes to mind among the more recent portrayals, and then the obvious classics like George C. Scott and Albert Finney. I like Patrick Stewart’s, but I think he went over the top a little at the ending’s conversion. I’m in the minority in being a fan of Kelsey Grammer’s performance in the critically panned musical version. I also think Michael Caine did a great Scrooge in the Muppets version, playing the role totally straight against all the crazy Muppets.
