I showed my grandson how to eat parsley sprigs like a dinosaur, and he transferred that image to broccoli florets and started calling them trees for dinosaurs. Not bad for a three-year old. Now, at 21, he still eats his broccoli.

We used the ‘tree’ on our kids too. Kid 2 didn’t need it tho. He’d eat anything.

When we were kids, my older brother once expressed disgust at both brussels sprouts and broccoli, grumbling “I hate little things that look like cabbages and little things that look like trees.” As he grew up his tastes broadened, and he changed his mind. I still hate ’em both. They are not welcome in my mouth, on my tongue, behind my teeth- or anywhere in the vicinity.

Learned to like broccoli when I had it raw, in a salad or with ranch dressing to dip in it. Jury is still out on brussels sprouts!

I never did get to like the school cabbage – I think they used to boil it for about two hours.

I’ve yet to have a brussels sprout that was edible, including fresh from the garden. This is hard, because they look like little cabbages—and I love cabbage.

How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat yer meat?"

I ate that stuff. And found the meaning of “projectile vomiting.” Still can’t stand it.

I LOVE broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts! My mom hated them and wouldn’t eat them – which gave me leverage to avoid vegetables I didn’t like (like peas – ugh!).
