Rall is almost always spot on. But as far as I can tell he’s 180º out of phase w/ reality here. Yes, Biden’s son had that job, and it paid very well. And yes Biden himself asked the Ukraine to accept the suggestion of the entire Obama administration that the prosecutor be replaced. Not even clear that the change (which happened) had any effect (in either direction) on younger Biden’s job.
Didn’t Biden want the prosecutor removed despite the fact he already stopped investigating the company that employed Hunter Biden? Biden was already benefiting from the prosecutor he was demanding to be fired. To demand he be replaced raised the possibility that the new prosecutor would reopen the case, so why would Biden have done it if he were looking to take the heat off his kid?
While I agree with the general sentiment that both Obama and Biden were/are corrupt, this specific incident is not evidence of it.
And so the fun begins: the push to turn over rocks and boards to see what’s underneath. We used to do that as kids. Worms and millepedes, beetles and rolly-pollies, crickets, mice, and sometimes snakes would scramble for cover. We had to be careful with snakes, though. Under what rocks do other political insiders burrow and feed, under cover of what corporate boards? Be extra careful with those snakes.
I don’t think the moral high ground has ever been that high. People who act morally superior to others generally have a blind eye to their own behavior. That’s even acknowledged in the Bible when Jesus challenges people “to throw the first stone”.
Let’s keep in mind that Cheetoh Pinochet is accusing Joe and Hunter Biden of corruption in exactly the same manner in which he is pursuing his own corrupt interests, that he either brags about or says “everybody does it”. tRump and his supporters are incapable of smelling their own hypocrisies.
This kind of thing is where, unfortunately, Rall throws away his chance to be taken seriously. Here’s a quick test: what’s the difference between Trump and Biden? Hint: one of them is one of 12 D candidates for President and ONE IS THE SITTING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. He’s falling into the incredibly mendacious but apparently effective R messaging that makes this issue about Biden instead of the President’s OPEN ATTEMPT TO EXTORT ANOTHER COUNTRY for political gain. If you really can’t see the difference between them, I’m afraid logic is not going to work. No offense to any one of you, but if you see any kind of validity whatever in Trump doing what he did, we have a definite philosophical chasm between us. How can any possibly credit his excuse that he “doesn’t care about politics” but only about rooting out corruption wherever he finds it?
Withholding funding to Ukraine had to do with a corrupt prosecutor tied to Russia, not Biden’s son. And Rall trying to connect by assumption Trump and the Obama administration is definitely a conservative tactic.
The moral high ground never was that high in the first place. As in all these cases, I am curios as to who the incorruptible leaders were and when or where was this ethical wonderland.
A number of the US’ allies were also asking for and no doubt putting pressure on the Ukraine to fire their prosecutor. Don’t tell me – ALL of them were corrupt with special interests dictating their decisions as well. Sorry, Ted, you’re way off target on this one.
It’s been said. But it needs to be said again, in caps, in boldface, and with exclamation points.
FALSE EQUIVALENCY!!!!!!!
You are too smart for this, sir. And too talented to waste your art on such.
Seriously, Mr. Rall, far too many of your ‘toons rely entirely on false equivalence. I don’t like to imagine that you don’t know what the term means, but the more unhappy thought is that you know and don’t care. So I’m going with “you don’t know.” And with the plea that you read up on the use and misuse of equivalency arguments.

Joe had pressured removal of the corrupt prosecutor who would not investigate any potential corruption. How it that a conflict of interest?

The Republicans have lowered that Moral High Ground bar to levels never imagined possible. Lies and false innuendo now compete for attention.

What the hell does Biden’s son have to do with the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor?
Nothing.

If Biden’s kid is up for criticism, so should the greedy vicious Trump kids.
Ivanka made 88 million while working in the White House and got a patent in China to make voting machines.
Jared collected a billion in bribes to stop a war between mid-east countries.
MBS murdered Kashoggi to stop a story on Trump’s criminal actions.
Sounds like massive corruption in the White House to me going on right now, hint, hint.

That looks to me to be something the Russians would want to spread. False propaganda about Obama meant to divide Americans more.
