Nothing will come of it. Unless he comes out as being gay, Senate Republicans will steadfastly stand behind him. At best, the negative publicity of impeachment proceedings will counterbalance the outrage that they spark in tRump’s hordes. tRump has in his favor the power of the incumbency, the advantage of having the immorality to do anything to win, a yuge war chest, and the ineptitude of the Democratic party. AND his most likely opponent will either be an old man whose best days are faaaar behind him or a woman who is too strong to gain acceptance from those with misogynistic leanings and too leftist to gain acceptance from independents. Don’t bet against tRump having at least one more term in office.
Be clear on this – the House decides to impeach (that being like an indictment) and the Senate tries the impeachment (they can hold trial, not the House). The odds of the senators finding him guilty are very, very slim. Nixon was far more popular, especially within his party and yet he would have been impeached had he not resigned. This time around though the pond scum and slime will look the other way unless he becomes even more idiotic and/or heinous, and even then… Who knows?
The general definition of “impeach” is to “call into question the integrity or validity of a person or practice”. Nancy Pelosi is hardly the first woman to do that with respect to the resident, but he’s impervious as well as shameless. He just shrugs and insults them all.
This was my opinion on this subject until the Ukraine situation——————————————————————————————No one could reasonably believe that Trump is not guilty of lots and lots of stuff. The problem is that I know a bunch of people who UNreasonably believe it. And, a whole bunch of other people who are marginally interested and would believe that the news reports, in which Trump would declare that since the senate found him innocent he is pure as the driven snow. The idea that it is the moral, patriotic, honorable thing to impeach him because he is obviously guilty makes some sense. It makes more sense to believe that it is the moral, patriotic, honorable thing to do what is best for this country, and setting Trump up to be declared innocent by the senate is not in the best interests of this country. ======================Now, the Democrats have no choice. To fail to call for impeachment on this issue makes the Democrats part of the corruption that the Trump administration represents. And, the Republicans have the choice of either voting to impeach or explaining their failure to do so to the the people that they represent in the next election.
