Lots of insects are winged creatures that can hover motionless. Of course, they’re not Woodstock.

so you’d rather critique than make sure that your friend is OK, Snoopy?

Looney Toon characters can hover longer than that just by not realizing they are standing in mid-air

Well, in a strong enough wind any bird flying against the wind can hover. The smart ones know to turn so they go with the wind.

I don’t know what Snoopy is reading, but it’s wrong. I’ve seen lots of other birds hover in flight. It’s not the speed it flaps its wings that makes a hummingbird’s flight what it is — it’s the WAY it flaps its wings.

Certain varieties of sunbird found in Africa and Asia can also hover like a hummingbird. Also known as the spiderbird because unlike hummingbirds they also eat insects.
