I remember the cast of ‘Seventh Heaven’ doing PSAs trying to convince the public to support action in Afghanistan. Because the Taliban was mutilating and killing women. Pre 9/11
We’ve never had such a brilliant leader as this, claiming to know better than his generals how to win in Afghanistan. Nor have we ever had a political party so desperate to be in control that they will lie, cheat, and steal to get there and then care so much more for promises than actual results. We the People could correct this but it would take the kind of activism that created this nation, not the apathy that we have now. Tell me again how our mutually-exclusive, opposing binary political system is efficient and effective at building a strong united society with intelligent leadership that knows how to deal with (e.g.) the turmoil in Afghanistan without making it worse.
Didn’t “listen” to history. The war in Afghanistan was a quagmire for the Soviet Union. It has been a quagmire for the US.After 9-11, I read an article that the attacks be treated as a criminal act. Should use INTERPOL to search for the criminals who played a part in the crimes. Sounded rational and logical to me. (I have, over the years, searched for the article and cannot find it. I know I didn’t imagine the story. I see myself at the desk in the library reading it.)
Actually, we had things pretty much under control in Assganistan after 9-11. Unfortunately, we got diverted into that other little “excursion”, place called Iraq. Thank you George W., Dick C, Wolfowicz, Bolton, etc. etc. etc. We’ll be there a while longer too.

We’ve been digging that hole since Saudis attacked the US with airliners.

It’s about intelligence of the IQ variety. If you’re too stupid not to get into Afghanistan in a military way, then you’re headed for the grave.

ANOTHER REASON why “Military Intelligence” is an oxymoron…
