Alcohol is a drug, caffeine is a drug, Aspirin is a drug… (I can go on for pages), and they are all legal. America has a drug problem with opioids. Marijuana isn’t an opioid, and as such isn’t part of the “Huge drug problem”
At least be consistent, Mr. Ramirez. Tomorrow’s cartoon needs to be America has a gun violence problem so let’s have more guns and more people carry guns.
The left don’t know what the right are doing and the right don’t know what the left are doing! the govt is so focused on their intake of bribe money they can’t see we the people for the trees.
The right is supposed to be about limited government, right? So why dictate what people can do with a substance they grow and or trade? The government does not own the productivity of the citizen — that would be slavery — a very non-right concept.
It is not marijuana that’s the crisis. It’s the very legal, and very, very profitable opioid industry. It is a well established principle that as soon as any item, commodity, product, or conduct is outlawed or banned, a black market for that item, commodity, product, or conduct is immediately created. In our own history, we need only look at the Prohibition era for a reminder. Thanks to Prohibition, roughly 90% of Americans were technically criminals and crime became organized and very, very profitable. There’s a saying about those who do not remember the past.
If.. when.. given a choice, go with the lesser of the two evils. Besides there is an opportunity here for the Government to make a profit through taxing it.. something they could never quite accomplish with the illegal drug trade.. not that they didn’t try.
Mari has caused 0 deaths … EVER. But she does cause people to step back and really think about what is going on. She does cause people’s eyes to open to the truth. Oh yeah and she does provide numerous medicinal benefits. … 0 deaths / more aware society/ healthier population … No wonder the Right wants to keep her illegal.
America has two big drug problems – opioids and trumpism. Weed is much safer than prescription pain killers, and while it can’t cure trumpism, it does provide a nice respite.
if you dig deep enough, marijuana laws and its placement on schedule I , were based in racist motives. It was associated with blacks, and was seen as an easy way to make them felons. Jim crow is deeper into law than people understand….
When with this country learn, you cannot legislate morality. What you can legislate it that all drugs have to be tested as to their purity. I know I wouldn’t want someone adulterating my grass with an opiate.
Let us re-legalize all such drugs. Nicotine and alcohol are mass killers so safety is a crock and the militarism and affronts against the Bill of Rights continue for over a century and most people are use to it. But are they yet tired of the violence the black market trade deals in?
Back in the day I was a vocal advocate, between hits, of legalization. Today I am very much on the fence.
There are dozens of solid reasons to legalize. Not the least of which is the tax revenues that can be realized. Now if only the idiot politicians will REDUCE those taxes where pot is legal. The taxes are so high that it is still cheaper to by illegal pot on the street.
We can get a better handle on keeping it out of the hands of minors. Ehhhh…not really. Not if the track record in Colorado is a sign of things to come.
We can limit how it is presented to avoid attracting child users. Errrr….pass me the gummies, dear.
Despite my sarcasm, I am undecided. The pot today is light years away from even the best quality weed we had in my day. We are seeing a significant number of ER cases with people have mental breaks while using the new breed of weed.
In the end, I’m certain it will be legalized on a federal basis. But I am not convinced that the benefits outweigh the problems.
Nicotine and alcohol can both kill with their toxicity, marijuana cannot. Marijuana is an effective medication, and yes, having gotten off “big pharma’s” killer drugs, it is an effective medicine, and you don’t have to get high for it to work, especially the CBD component. Of 43 TV advertised prescription drugs, only three did NOT have potentially lethal side effects. These treat the conditions folks can treat with mj.
Recreationally, young folks shouldn’t be using it, just like booze, or tobacco/nicotine.
Tobacco vaping is now producing serious impacts, legally. Prohibition caused the most dangerous period in US history, it’’s time. Congress took MJ off schedule. I.

Ramirez is just a contrarian. He’s a troll. He loves to tweak people, rather than draw anything remotely related to reality.

Actually trump’s base probably has a higher % of pot smokers than outside his base. Moscow Mitch’s Kentucky’s #1 cash crop is pot.
