Or US society could follow the example of most industrialized nations and bring in more extensive training, longer for example than a beautician or certain other trades https://www.cnn.com/2016/09/28/us/jobs-training-police-trnd/index.html
California residents should make sure to thank their governor for cowing to the police union and allowing a much weaker bill to pass than what was originally intended. I hear primary challenges are the best way to say “thanks.”
There’s good police and bad police but there are too many power trippers, too many non-police who don’t care if the other kind gets brutalized or killed and too much covering up by police for the bad ones. If the bad ones get weeded out and/or prosecuted people might have more confidence in law enforcement.
California is an ongoing experiment in all kinds of things. Thank you, Californians, for your service to humanity.
As for the “feeling” issue, that’s just CA-speak for “thought”. It will end up i court if the corpse has rich relatives, and it will turn out, just as everywhere else, that cops are allowed to shoot people when they (pick a verb here) that their lives or the lives of others are endangered. (regardless of which verb you pick).

I feel like I’m living in Catch-22. The final chapters.
That last panel is right on point. Writing into law something you simply can not know is truly insane.

The legal standard in CA has changed. You can’t give officers “carte blanche” to use deadly force in whatever situations they might possibly want to.

I remember when Los Angeles officers shot deaf people because they did not halt when verbally ordered to stop.
