The pharmacist should go back to school. The issue is not just the high cost of healthcare, which it is, but what is the most efficient and cost-effective way of delivering effective and affordable healthcare to the masses. It is not the present healthcare system, which at $10,000 per capita is the highest in the developed world.
Wake up, people. Medicare is a basic platform to provide funding for health care. It does not provide health care. That is the purview of doctors, nurses, hospitals, clinics, et al. Those who feel the need (and can afford) there are supplemental plans aplenty. Replacing premiums paid to support CEOs and management of lord knows how many private insurers, paid for by employers and employees with a single payer plan would save untold millions. FICA is Federal INSURANCE CONTRIBUTIONS Act, not a freebie or handout. As with any insurance program, the idea is to pool funds with the intention of aiding those in need.Hell, I paid auto and home owners insurance for more decades than I care to recount without drawing a penny from either, but I paid the premiums. Something of a “fingers crossed” bet. While reservations of a government bureaucracy may be well founded, is lining the pockets of a few, diverting millions upon millions from actual health CARE preferable?
Does he think that medical care is not costing us anything now? Many people can’t afford medical care or medication. Those who can afford it pay dearly for it. Americans pay more for medical care than any other country, and still some of us are not covered.
We are NOW spending more than ANY COUNTRY ON EARTH for health care, and getting LOUSY results.
And the 32.6 trillion is a fake number, since it assumes that what it costs NOW will still be the cost, just paid by the Government. In reality, it will be FAR CHEAPER. Because private insurance companies are GOUGING us.
Out of curiosity, is there a republican solution to healthcare issues in this country? The costs are too high, the coverage is very inconsistent, the prices are all over the map and no one tells you in advance what the costs would be. The private healthcare industry has done well in terms of profits, but has failed to provide better healthcare.
So, again Mr. Ramirez, please enlighten us on how you propose to provide better health coverage?
In the meanwhile, the medical “industry” is actively moving to a monetization of America’s health care system. That giant sucking sound will be heard every time any of us (i.e. the inferior 99.99%) have a health incident.
Cost of the US Healthcare system about $10,000 per capita, Or 17.8% of GDP and millions are not covered; cost of Healthcare in Canada approximately $6,500 per capita or 11.2% of GDP and all are covered automatically from birth. Canadians have a life expectancy of about three years longer than Americans. I’m a 78 year old male in relatively good health but being treated for prostate cancer. In the last 20 years I’ve used the services of one GP, two surgeons, two urologists, one dermatologist, and their various support personnel. Cost to me about zilch other than the income tax that I’ve already paid. The healthcare system seems to want to keep me alive, functioning and paying income tax which I do, and which I’m all in favor of. I also maintain a good independent lifestyle.
We have to “Break” the current system, before we implement the new system. I know everyone says it’s already broken, but in addition to changing the way payments are made (Destroy the insurance industry),and revamping with the tax system, we also will change how treatment decisions are made. Between rationing elective care, to changing the patient/nurse/doctor ratios. There’s a lot more involve than just saying we’re going to fix the system, that’s just the start. Heaven help those that are lost in the transition.
This is pure propaganda from the insurance companies and the RepubliCONS. Their biggest concern is that the insurance company executives won’t be able to buy multi- million dollar homes and the RepubliCONS will lose their campaign contributions.
Another Republican lie. This one is a lie of omission. Yes medicare for all will cost about $32T over a ten year span. What they conveniently forget to mention is that the current system will cost about $34T over that same span.
The Koch Brothers paid for some research to prove that single payer would cost too much. They found out that it would cost a huge amount over the next 10 years. But some $billions less than what we have costs.
That is the cost to all of our society. It would help the less well to do, and hurt (a little bit) the 1%. So of course it’s impossible to implement.
Let’s see…what am I in the mood for today?…..I think I’d like a supersized double order of BS with a side of propaganda and wash it down with a gallon of ignorance flavored Kool-aid! Now where can I get that? Oh hey, thanks Mike! This cartoon is just what I wanted!
Uh Ramirez the average American isn’t paying that amount. The 1 Percent will get their taxes raised to pay for it. Payback is coming in next years Election

Tragically, another ‘mindless’ distortion from Ramirez, illustrating that he doesn’t understand the health care issue in America!

More right wing lies. Uncaring Republicans have no plan at all.
Republicans would rather the American people go bankrupt over medical bills.
