“Better an outright Nazi than a (shudder) progressive!” Seems to me that establishment Democrats regularly support right-wingers and attack progressives. Then when their chosen candidate loses, they shrug their shoulders.
BTW, I’m not convinced that Warren is so great. While she has some very good proposals, her votes in support of the Pentagon don’t seem progressive to me at all.
Oh, but it’s not the Dem leadership’s fault. Just shut the hell up and vote for the lessor of two evils candidate, who was specifically picked to preserve the pro-corporate status quo that clearly isn’t benefiting the majority of voters. And if you don’t vote for the candidate who isn’t going to do very much to help you and your family, then it’s YOUR fault the even worse Republican won! It’s not the fault of the terrible Democratic candidate who ran a terrible campaign, and not the fault the party leadership who forced such a terrible choice on you. You’re to blame. …or the Russians. …or the 3rd party candidate who dared to present you with a better choice than the Democrats did. …or Ralph Nader. He hasn’t run in nearly 20 years, but it’s still Nader’s fault. …or the Electoral College. Who ever is at fault, it certainly isn’t the fault terrible candidate who ran a terrible campaign or the fault of the party leadership who pushed for the terrible candidate, so go point you fingers at literally anyone else.
Why do you include Carter in the parade of Democrat losers? Because he did not get re-elected? And how do you explain Clinton/Obama? Both Democrats, both re-elected. You don’t even mention them. Every single time.
Since 1988 a 1st term Republican has not actually been elected by a majority to the presidency. Seems like the Democrats are doing pretty good. Bush I was not re-elected. Trump won’t be.
I also want a Progressive Democrat to be president. But I don’t see the failure here the way you do.
I seem to remember some progressives who didn’t do so well. McGovern won only one state out of 50. Dukakis didn’t do too great either. I loved both McGovern and Dukakis, but was pragmatic enough to see they weren’t great candidates for POTUS. Also, if it weren’t for some shenanigans, we would have had both Gore and Hillary Clinton as prez since they both won the popular vote. In all other democratic countries in the world, the popular vote is just known as the vote. Gore lost thanks to the Supreme Court anointing him after the mess in Florida, in which there were miscounts, and Hillary won by 3 million in the popular vote, but lost due to the dead slaveowners’ Electoral College and the fact that the Russians helped the other side.
If Hillary Clinton had shared closer to the center, and lost the support of 3% of progressives to Kill Stein or whoever, but picked up 2% of moderates who went to Trump, she’d have won both the popular and electoral votes and become president.
If progressives hadn’t washed their hands of responsibility in 2000 and voted for Al Gore, Dick Cheney would never have had a chance to run the country, and conservatives wouldn’t dominate the judiciary.
Revolution is the opiate of the wannabe intellectuals and academics.
I offer no defense of Hillary Clinton; but she didn’t lose as much as Trump won. Trump won because this country is filled with people who oppose progressivism at some or all points. Bernie would have done no better than Hillary unless there actually is a large enough group of people who refused to vote and were thereby complicit in Trump’s victory. Is that true?
Isn’t one of the descriptions of insanity using the same failed strategy repeatedly in the hope it may someday work? The majority or plurality of Americans support so-called progressive concepts such as single payer health care, immediate and extensive efforts to “go green” and free college. Perhaps the reason Democrats consistently nominate a GRID is because the corporate loving suck up to the rich faction controls the process. They need to get a clue.

Lesser-evil voting is how the US wound up with Trump as president-for-life (just watch).
