If you ever get a chance to see the recent WW I documentary, “They Shall Not Grow Old” there are many very realistic scenes that will shock and surprise. Some are quite hard to watch, but the scene of a bunch of soldiers lined up sitting on a horizontal pole between two sawhorses, bare asses exposed and doing their daily duty is pretty funny. But in war and in the forest, you do what you have to.

After 10 days on the trail at Philmont we stopped at the Raton Pizza Hut enroute to the train home. Our first question was, “Where’s your tree?”
