Bad things can happen to people who deliberately take up two parking spaces for fear that someone will scratch or dent their precious vehicle, and there is a special place in hell for those persons without disabilities who park in a designated handicapped parking spot!
I have gotten dirty looks from people when I park in the handicap spot even WITH a handicap tag. My disability can’t be seen unless I wear shorts (which I will NEVER do). I have a really bad knee and have to wear a brace all the time or else I will have to use crutches or a wheelchair. If I wear the brace, I can walk almost normally – but if I am wearing jeans, you can’t see it, so it looks like I don’t have anything wrong. Eventually, even that won’t work and I will need to get it replaced, but the longer I can go without surgery, the better. I am hoping to wait until I retire (4 years, 1 month and 13 days).
Luckily I didn’t get driven to high school by MY father; he was principal (not to mention early morning seminary which is, to you non-Latter-day Saint GoComics users, basically scripture study).
when it comes to handicap parking, people really should mind their own business, whatever happened to giving the benefit of the doubt? I have a handicap, actually I have several handicaps… I also have a handicap tag in my car… I still get dirty looks when I park in the handicap Zones… though I find that the better parking places for me to access where I want to go are not the ones reserved for a handicap Zone. Most people don’t understand that most handicaps are not visible but just as painful as the ones you can see. All in all, parking is a lost art. And parking manners are extinct.
