With Phoebe not aging, would that mean the first strips took place in what was then the future?

Well, now we’ve PHYSICALLY met Marigold’s parents. (What does the B stand for in the father unicorn’s name? Beautiful, Bodacious, something else that isn’t Birchard?

We finally meet Marigold’s and Florence’s parents! Oh man! Don’t know what to say after that!

Is Marigold still too young to need glasses?

Or does she wear contacts?

And who dyes their manes?

Or is she – gasp! – adopted?

Favor please? Could someone remind me why they don’t know their parents? I’ve tried going back though the strips but the only drawback to lovely long story arcs is trying find a missed thread. Tia

I really should know more about the president Rutherford B. Hayes, but now between this and Richard Thompson’s strip about the White House Easter egg roll, I’m only associating him with the comics. Hurrah for Rutherford B. Hayes!

He is just sore because he was named after one of the Forgettable Presidents. Like what’s his name….

Rutherford B. Hayes…historically seen as a fairly average or slightly below average president, and his real biggest accomplishment was to end Reconstruction in the South following the Civil War. He did promote equality between races, though, so there is that.

They looks like very nice Unicorns. I’m happy for Florence and Marigold.

It seems Florence has her parents eyes.

Technically, it would be Rutherford’s parents who stole the name. Whether it’s the unicorn or the ex-president’s who actually stole it is unknown. Most likely it’s just coincidence that they have the same name.

It’s a flip on the old joke: “So you’re named after [name here]?” “Well, I certainly wasn’t named BEFORE [him/her]!”

WAITAMINUTE! It just hit me… unicorns have parents? I thought they just magically appeared when rainbows and sunsets collided. I mean, let’s get serious here. Parents? Next thing you’ll tell us unicorns are birthed instead of poofing from inside a silver cloud!

YAY!!!!! We got to meet the parents!!!! Tulip, how perfectly perfect! And I have to admit, Dana, you got me with “Rutherford B. Hayes”!

Awww….and Florence takes after her mother’s side of the family as to looks. How sweet!
