Fear of the unknown, — the imaginary horribles — helps sell insurance, guns, burglar alarms, security systems, etc. and elects representative that “promise” to make you safe. And with the world’s largest military force, some are still frightened by the unknown. Wouldn’t education be more prudent and less costly to allay unfounded fears?
This country is tone deaf when it comes to regulating gun control. The treasonist NRA needs to disband, for they are encouraging violence from the irresponsible… congress is bribed in millions so they vote in favor of NOT changing the laws.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens in Virginia with the special session that Northam is calling. In the most recent session, I hear that every bill Democrats proposed regarding gun safety was voted down in committee by Republicans. Think committee hearings will be televised?
OT: I initially typed “vomittee”. I’m not sure that was wrong.
As a strict constitutionalist, I believe every member a well regulated militia should be issued a 78 caliber flintlock musket or pistol. All other arms should be confiscated.

There is no “gun debate” in America and there never has been. There is a screaming match. There is no debate or even conversation. That is the fault of both sides, not just the NRA. Neither side even tries to understand the other yet both sides are driven by the same thing.
There will be no real change in gun control until some loonie kills a gang of rich people. {Sprays a board meeting with gunfire, for instance.} You will have noticed the victims are always ordinary folks. Ordinary, that means expendable.
The NRA has degenerated from its roots as a gun-safety organization into the Supreme Terrorist group. ISIS and al-Qaeda got nothin on these guys. And the greatest irony about the NRA being a terrorist group is that the members are all Gun-Cowards. They need guns to protect themselves from the boogeymen under their beds.
Please explain which of the recent gun control proposals would have stopped the Virginia Beach shooter.
Obviously a total cessation of sales to civilians plus a confiscation of all owned weapons wold work.
Other than that, which of the laws currently and recently proposed would have made a difference here?
BTW, have you noticed that this shooting has mostly dropped of the radar, even on sources like MSNBC and CNN? Its hard to flog the pony when there were no “assault weapons” involved.

If someone buys dozens of guns and thousands of rounds of ammo, will the NRA hear that? You betcha!

Republicans refuse to debate, they just demand, while they take Russian money.

The right wing gun nuts always forget about this part where the Republican president encourages the police to take away guns unconstitutionally.
