    Writing long, personal, informative letters requires time, ability to use language mechanics, a wide vocabulary, and serious thought. Users of modern handheld devices seem to demonstrate the short-hand version, with time for thought as the least applied.

    I keep in touch with friends far and near through telephone. Our conversations are usually an hour or longer. . .much easier to talk than write. . .

    Just step back and think seriously about this for a moment. 6 days a week an agent of the federal government personally stops by your house on the off chance that you might have some sheets of paper that you’d like someone else somewhere in America to have, and for about half a buck, a couple of days later they’ve gotten them. And we just take this for granted! If you were to describe this to, say, Ferdinand and Isabella, they’d think you were either a magician or the world’s greatest con artist.
