Elly has the normal baby belly but she could do better with that slouch of hers. It’d help flatten her stomach a bit. Elly is pretty much the standard figure for a mom. These ladies in bikinis are probably not moms and are young as in 20s-30s. If you see beaches today, plus-size go in bikinis. Nowadays they don’t care what others think of their imperfect bodies.
Speaking of perspective, has anyone else notice that the artists drawing the women in comics tend to make them better looking then you would even see in real life? :-)
Well I suppose that is true. You don’t have to be the best, just not the worst. As for the worst. Just keep trying. One day you will be remembered when all the ‘not the best or the worst’ folks are long forgotten.

Worrying about how you look isn’t as important as enjoying the moment. It took me far too long to figure this out.

I’m like the lady in panel three. I can either hide, feeling ashamed, or I can hold my head high, and dare someone to make a crack. I choose the latter, as long as I’m sufficiently covered in sunblock, to avoid burning.

Horizontally-striped bathing suit. Today this is considered to be retro. In Elly’s time, it was not.
