Male, single, retired since 12/18, liberal, Minnesotan, use the Platinum rule as a guide to life "do unto others as they would have you do unto them", don't think we'd need another law if we all did that. We have free will, use it and allow others to do the same without judgment. The world would be a fine place if we could manage that.

Oh, come on. You know full well that as soon as the Civil Rights Act passed all those “democrats” turned republican. Which is why the south is still red today. It was a Democrat, LBJ, who pushed the Civil Rights Act through. That lot was never part of the modern DFL. Never.

For nearly the first time, Calvin is a sympathetic character. He’s just feeling the loss, his fear, the hopelessness of being bullied in that last panel. I’ve seen that child before.

I think the rest of the world is far ahead of the US on this idea. Kid’s learn new languages far easier than adults. Being bilingual is and always will be an asset in this world.

Opa? German grandfather? You might enjoy Nina Willner’s Forty Autumns, the story of how her family was divided by the partitioning of Germany. Her Opa plays a strong role in what is an amazing story and book.

America is 4.29% of the world’s population but consumes 30% of the world’s resources. Maybe that is what generates some of the hostility. That and our propensity to insist no one tell us what to do while we tell everyone else what to do. We’re history’s biggest bully.

Precisely, she was hired to do a job, she’s doing it. Her friends are trying to take advantage of her work ethic and moral compass. That’s wrong on every level. Her employer is also in the background, though she does not know that. Bernice should be so good as Luann is here. We all should.

’63 Impala, the fins are a bit off, but a friend of mine had one just like that.
