I couldn’t make it through the entire “if you dare” video… But the decomposing fruit bowl was awesome to watch during breakfast.

‘S very true, though. In High School a pack of gum went a long way to ensuring a bit of temporary popularity…

Wait a few years and you’ll be gumming open a pack.

Re the blog: NOW I know why my mom always called her cast iron skillet “the spider”! (No, she was not a hobo.) Funny how these kinds of words sneak into the vernacular.

Next up: why is the little metal bottle opener that punches a triangular hole in a can called a “church key”? Anyone?

RE blog: the polish song is a parody of a love song. The title means “just be there” it’s mildly funny, not worth the effort of translating the lyrics :)

A lot of those hobo terms I heard while growing up, and many are still in use.

Since Frog Blog seems to be a fan of Wanda Jackson, thought I’d point this out:

Excellent album of (mostly) rockabilly covers, by Ms. Jackson with help from Mighty Jack White.

I just saw how to fold a fitted sheet. I like how to fold a T-shirt better. I learned a lot more with the T-shirt.

The song in the background of “The Impossible Nail Trick” is an old protest song from the sixties, written by Tom Paxton. It’s all irony, of course; but schools today don’t teach any of those things, so the song has lost its relevance. Tom needs to write a new song: “That’s What I Learned From the Mainstream Media Today.” But he won’t.

I believe the version in the video is by Pete Seeger.

The sheet folding will come in handy to make my pack when I become a hobo.
