the beagle has landed……
Another rule of cartoon physics: When a character realizes they’re contradicting their instincts, they revert to their original nature.
If beagles cannot climb trees, then what kind of breed of dog can do so?
The tree is suddenly a lot shorter with Lucy next to it!!

Reminds me of the old Road Runner cartoons where the Coyote ran off a cliff and was just fine – suspended in mid-air – until the Road Runner showed up and pointed down.
Tigger was able to bounce up a tree, but couldn’t come back down.

But how can Snoopy play his Vulture persona if he can’t climb trees?
I had a beagle that used to climb a tree and get out of her pen. ;)
here are lots of things beagles “can’t do” that Snoopy does:
>walk upright
>fly a Sopwith camel>be a lawyer
>have a dog house with a basement, pool table and many other luxuries
>write novels
>etc
While you’re up there, can you dislodge a few of Charlie Brown’s kites?
