18 degrees F and some of our kids around here will still be wearing shorts.

I actually took a pay cut from a job in a hardware store to go back into teaching several years ago. ;)

I’ve taught for over 20 years after being in the “real world” for 15. I always try to give the kids time in class to work on any assignment. I know my classes are not the only ones they have and family time, (and down time) is important as well. And no, I do not “teach to the test”, I teach the subject matter and try to make it pertain to life.

Now they discourage “trade and grade”. Seems the experts have decided it might hurt some students to have other students see what they missed on work. ;/

Coyotes is OK, but not the best. Yes, I have had coyote.

took our truck in last July to get it looked at, thought it needed a new catalytic converter from the code we ran. They looked it over and then called me out into the shop to show me how much was wrong with the front end. $5000 dollars later it was fixed. Except for the catalytic converter which we had to put off. 2 months later, I totaled it on a deer. :(

23 years ago, I took a pay cut from a job in a hardware store to use my degree and start teaching. I do question my intelligence sometimes. ;)

Arkansas actually. But I wouldn’t go to Cali for the difference in pay! ;) I was offered a teaching job in Alaska this summer that paid considerably higher but had obligations here that made me turn it down, (in sopite of a daughter, son-in-law and a granddaughter in that state).

Not sure where you hail from, but I’ve been teaching 23 years and make less than $50,000, (and that’s today, not the 70’s and 80’s)

I started doing this in my 8th grade classes when we talk about sound, they love it. And you’re right, most of them never heard of this before.
