It’s National Pick Strawberries Day! But strawberries don’t ripen here until mid to late June (I have blossoms on my strawberries, but that’s it). It’s also National Be A Millionaire Day (if only we could all be millionaires!). And it’s Quich Lorraine Day (another dish I’ve never eaten) and National Rescue Dog Day. Nothing about cats or rabbits though.

It’ll probably end up being the 10 Rabbits and Dogs Book.

The Cats will walk out when they find out they’re supposed to be in a book with dogs…

and the other Creatures will quit cos they refuse to be labelled “Lesser.”

I love the rabbit’s big mouth, and the fox comment. My first batch of cats lived with indoor rabbits and would often sleep together on the bed or kitchen table!

I did – what am I looking for?No Harrop or Pastis – very disappointing.

I have at least one big brown rabbit that lives somewhere in my yard. It’s funny how wild animals are encroaching on suburbia. It’s not unusual to see deer, fox, raccoon, rabbits, black squirrels, even a coyote. And I am at least a mile and a half from the city limits!

Poor baby, has Elmer Fudd nightmares too. I bet Bugs had ’em too!

Elmer Fudd was actually a bit of a wuss. He was basically a grown up version of Charlie Brown. Being a hunter, he served the role of antagonist to Bugs quite well, but seldom came across as villainous or threatening. Friz Freleng created Yosemite Sam so Bugs Bunny would have a more formidable (and less sympathetic) opponent to face off against. If Elmer Fudd was reminiscent of Charlie Brown, then Yosemite Sam was more like Lucy with his crabby attitude and loud voice.
