my cat Debbie, over 50 years ago, DID bring home a dead mouse as a gift for us. My mom made me bury it in the yard, but, hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?
My cats all seem to have felt I was a capable provider, because only one of them ever caught anything, and she ate that herself without even pretending to offer me any.

Is that a gift for the ones with thumbs (who operate the can-opener)or simply an offer of trade?

I’m told the reason cats bring us their kills is that they think humans are rather stupid kittens who can’t provide for themselves.

I had a friend who used to fake eating what her cat so proudly presented to her, with much lip-smacking & NOMNOMNOMming. O_o

Wasn’t there a Klibanity that said, “If I had two dead rats, I’d give you one”?
