Everybody can talk to each other, but hardly anybody is listening.

Mr Spaetzle and Frazz are co-equals. They share their daily duties and their lives. They are knowledgeable about each other, accept their differences, and are satisfied with the results. Very few can say that.

really? I can think of many diverse groups that I would be more amazed that they could talk (not yell)

THIS is a very sweet strip. Even Caulfield does not spoil the picture.

…why does my mind, as a decades veteran of cycle riding and even a short career in racing, always think of those obnoxious arrogant cyclists in relation to cartoons like this…

A better idea is to rig the Mr Coffee to turn on when the shower is turned off.

The trick is for both of them to stick to topics that aren’t “religious”, “political” or “sports team”… unless they are both in the same camp for those topics.

It’s like bike rides in November: Swimming outdoors takes on a certain urgency when you know that any day could be the last good day. And by “good day,” I mean what most people call “not a good day.” What I’m talking about, what I’m obsessed with, is the last chilly day before the water warms up and you have to accept you’ve built up as much cold-water tolerance out there as you’re going to, and then you’re stuck with the cold showers (a little useful for mental toughness, but not so much for actual physical tolerance) and the Backyard Brr Barrel (more effective than the shower, less effective than the lake and considerably more embarrassing than either).

However minimally effective the cold showers are, they do have their charms in the flogging-yourself-because-it-feels-so-good-when-you-stop department. When you do add a little warm water to the mix, it feels sooooooooo good. And when you can step into a pre-heated shower, well, that’s a major holiday. So I can relate to Mr. Spaetzle here, too. Though just with the shower. I’ve got a ridiculous amount of coffee-making devices, but no Mr. Coffee and no timers. Those are just unethical.

Jef, I would have thought you old enough that “couple” is a noun, not an adjective.

Frazz talks to everybody. It’s perhaps his most endearing trait. And he listens, too.
