Cowardly William Barr refused to honor a previous promise to testify before House committees today.

Appropriately, one congressman brought a plastic chicken and a bucket of KFC to reflect the cowardice and hypocrisy of the “chicken” Attorney General.

Trump wanted a “Roy Cohn” (the brutal, ruthless lawyer who represented his father and himself during the 1980’s until he was disbarred for tactics that crossed too many lines) and Barr seems to be filling that role.

But Barr is not Trump’s personal lawyer (to represent Trump).

Barr is not even the White House counsel (to represent the office of the presidency).

Barr is (supposed to be) the top law enforcement officer that reflect the entirety of “we the people” and, having clearly abdicated that role, should resign and accept a position as Trump’s personal lawyer — his personal “Roy Cohn” — but just be sure to get payment in advance.

Barr has a new version of that old saying: If you can’t say the truth, then don’t say anything.

    Weasel.

They’re all cowards! They’re allergic to the truth and reality. What an embarrassment to America, to have these scumbags get AWAY with all they do!

During the Watergate hearings one of the witnesses failed — that is, he refused — to appear and testify. Senator Sam Ervin, the committee chairman, with eyebrows dancing and wattles vibrating, threatened to “git the Sargent-at-arms to fetch ’im in here” to testify. That move is one of the options open to the current house committee to produce Mr. Barr. While it’s unlikely to happen now, it’s a delicious fantasy to contemplate.

The truth, you can’t handle the truth. But Barr can bend, fold, manipulate, mutilate and skirt it.

If.. the Democrats want to keep any dignity and respect for the rule of law.. number one action must be to see Barr’s butt in jail for contempt.

The House wants to use it’s lawyers to question Barr. He wants no part of that. Barr has realized that keeping track of your lies is more difficult than Trump told him it would be.

It’s well-known that facts have a liberal bias, so Publicans are perfectly within their rights to ignore them.

With the passing of John McCain, the Republican Party lost what little moral compass they ever had and now has, in essence, expired from the infection given it by Nixon with his “southern strategy” of inviting all the racists and bigots in the country to join the “party”! With it’s last dying gasp, it’s embrace of Trump reveals it for what it has truly become.

Senate republicans are simply showing what they “truly” are, Trump henchmen with no morals, no ethics and no values beyond winning at any cost! Senator Graham personifies the “new” G.O.P. wonderfully well.

I simply note that Donald John Trump HAS NEVER espoused ANY of the ‘core values’ of the G.O.P., and until quite recently, ardently supported the Democratic Party and both Clintons!

Donald John Trump has NO moral or ethical grounding, at all – his philosophy has ALWAYS BEEN, “Whatever works – for ME!”

Trump wants his crowing glory, the Trump Tower – Moscow! Since he knows (with a reptiles low cunning) that nothing ‘happens’ in Russia without Putin’s approval, Donnie John has become Vlad’s “butt buddy”!

This whole pathetic farce is NOT about betraying America; it’s about getting what Trump wants – the country be damned!

Donald John Trump’s entire reason for existence is predicated on two things – WINNING and EXTRACTING VENGEANCE on those who dare stand in his way! He is the ultimate 5th Grade Schoolyard Bully (with the mental facilities to match – the childish and egregious name-calling is a dead giveaway!)

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich: Presidents before Trump occasionally have argued that complying with a particular subpoena for a particular person or document would infringe upon confidential deliberations within the executive branch. But no president before Trump has used “executive privilege” as a blanket refusal to cooperate.“If Mr. Barr does not show up,” the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said Sunday, “we will have to use whatever means we can to enforce the subpoena.”What could the Committee do? Hold Barr in contempt of Congress—under Congress’s inherent power to get the information it needs to carry out its constitutional duties. Congress cannot function without this power.Under this inherent power, the House can order its own sergeant-at-arms to arrest the offender, subject him to a trial before the full House, and, if judged to be in contempt, jail that person until he appears before the House and brings whatever documentation the House has subpoenaed. When President Richard Nixon tried to stop key aides from testifying in the Senate Watergate hearings, in 1973, Senator Sam Ervin, chairman of the Watergate select committee, threatened to jail anyone who refused to appear.Congress hasn’t actually carried through on the threat since 1935—but it could.

[note from Godfreydaniel: Not only could, not only should, but MUST, if we are to keep our democracy.]

Our whole society seems to be in the process of abandoning the idea that there is even such a thing as “the truth”, much less that it matters. I’m hoping the tide turns before it’s too late. Be sure to vote in 2020: It may be the last time it matters.
