Doesn’t Sonny have the rule for the force on a wire backwards? The force per unit length of wire should be I X B (where I is the current and B is the magnetic field), but he’s computing B X I instead. For the orientation of the current and the field that he’s showing, the force should point down, not up. (Shouldn’t it?) Anyway, maybe he’s on to something. If he’s holding his hand like that, and he sees a girl who’s doing the same, then they’re both trying to figure out the homework assignment, and the force due to the magnetic field between two parallel currents is attractive…
The last frame made me laugh out loud at my desk! Glad no one heard – it would take way too long to get them up to speed so that they’d get the joke. ;-)
Sigh I know exactly what Linton means, and get really irritated when people, as Jack here, wilfully misunderstand. Having a conversation with a female, where one may as well be, to her, a piece of furniture that happens unsurprisingly to be able to talk, is not the same thing as being able to encourage them to think of one, however slightly, as boyfriend material, and the one does not in my experience magically transform into the other.
